Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten to some of the hardest working five and six year olds around! They love to learn and get their hands dirty. My students live in an extremely low-income area which often limits their exposure to life experiences. Because of this, I try to bring as many real-life discoveries into our classroom that I can. My students take on every challenge head-on and would love to have a science-based classroom!
My students work really hard to achieve our classroom goals, I want to make sure they have everything they need to be successful.
That includes having the support and resources they need to help them build their love for reading and education!
My Project
I would like to request a storage shelf with bins for my students to be able to access their manipulatives. I would like to add magazine file folders to help sort out our classroom library. I would like to add throw pillows on top of the shelves so that the students can use them as more seating options around the room.
My goal is to make students feel as comfortable as possible in our home away from home.
I plan to do this by allowing them access to our materials at all times. I want to help them learn organization skills by providing them file folders. Also, this will help them to be able to find the books they are looking for. I think the pillows will help my students be comfortable and allows them the freedom to choose how they want to learn.
