Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 14 self-contained special needs students.

We reside in a Title I school, which means there is very little funding, yet we have such a high need for supplies!

My students are all amazing, unique, loving and energetic humans! They are vibrant and brave, active and creative. My students have a variety of diagnoses including but not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, ED, Down Syndrome, LD, and multiple disabilities. I have verbal students as well as nonverbal students. All of my students have difficulty with communication skills, social skills, and struggle to process sensory information.

Our class is bare and supplies are minimal. My students deserve the best, and at the very least deserve the items deemed necessary to help them self-regulate, de-stress and provide imperative sensory stimulation.

My Project

This project will help give my students get the supports needed to fully participate in the classroom. The support levels vary from child to child. Some of my students are able to participate in inclusion time with the general education population, while others need full-time adult support in my self-contained classroom. Some of my students are verbal, while others are non-verbal. The iPad will allow us to install communication apps to use with our nonverbal kiddos on a daily basis. The at home pre-k ready kit will allow us to work with students who are at a lower skill level.

All of my students are beautifully unique.

They require different academic support, behavior management support, and communication support. The resources from this project will provide my students the materials necessary to ensure their success both in school and at home. The AppleCare will ensure that the ipad is replaced if cracked/broken.
