Help me give my students a more comfortable and inviting classroom! Yoga ball chairs, standing desks, and an area rug will help my students be more comfortable while learning!
My students come from a small, rural, community in Southern Illinois. My students go to school together kindergarten through senior year. All of my students receive free lunches because of our high poverty rate. School is a safe place for many of my students and I want them to feel comfortable in my classroom.
I want my classroom to feel like a home away from home.
Many of my students like when they are given the opportunity to stand or sit at the one rectangle table that I have with desk chairs.
My Project
Right now, my students all sit in desks, grouped together to attempt to create an environment that lends itself to openness and discussion. They argue over who gets to sit at my one long table with chairs, just because it is something different.
It is my hope that with new furniture, the students will not only be more comfortable but that it will create a more student-focused learning environment.
My students enjoy moving around the room but right now, have no where to go. I would like to give them ways to move, as they need, and more choice in what their learning environment looks like so that they can all be comfortable in my classroom!
