Help me give my students an engaging, comfortable classroom with picture books, cozy furniture, and social emotional tools to promote their academic success.
My students have been identified as having a deficit in reading and receive special education services. They are in grades 2-5 and come to my classroom in small groups throughout the day for additional instruction in reading. My students are amazing, hardworking kids who inspire me to be the very best for them every single day.
I would love to provide my students with an engaging, comfortable classroom with beautiful picture books, cozy furniture and storage, and social emotional tools to promote their academic success.
I would like to be able to offer seating that is more flexible than the desks and chairs currently in my classroom. I believe the opportunity to sit in a bean bag chair during instruction would motivate and engage my students. Building my classroom library with beautifully written and engaging picture books will motivate my students to read more. Since the COVID pandemic, many students in our school community struggle with self-regulation, identifying feelings, and effectively communicating with others. Although many students struggle in these social-emotional areas, many of my students lag behind their peers significantly. Tools I have found that allow my students to learn these important skills include books and games geared toward self-regulation, feelings, and communicating with others.
My students and I are so excited to be in a new, large classroom this school year. I would greatly appreciate any contributions toward making our new classroom more comfortable, cozy, and engaging for my students. These requested items would greatly promote student engagement and motivation as my students work hard to improve their reading and social skills.
