My students need to feel comfortable in the class. My cart is full of materials to make my room theirs, stools for flexible seating, carts for organization, and hot glue gun to hang their work to name a few items.
I have 15 English language learners in my class who require several different teaching strategies and activities. Most students are not given the adequate support at home they need, so they are on a lower level than should be. I am working every day to improve reading levels. Despite their setbacks, they are hard working and have a zest for learning. Although they don't have much, they have more than most.
The majority of students in my class come from poverty, but their hearts are bigger than any I have ever seen.
Their love, humor, and generosity with what they are able to give inspire me daily, and I want to give them all that I can.
My Project
The materials I am wishing for will make my classroom into a space that excites my learners. It can be difficult as a new teacher to fund beautiful decoration, efficient and clean organization tools, and necessary supplies to hang on the walls to make your classroom inviting for these third graders.
My wish is to get materials such as flexible seating stools, hot glue guns and command strips to hang student work, and other supplies to make my classroom a home for these students.
After all, they spend 40 hours a week in that room, and I want their environment to be inviting and engaging.
With this project, you will fund a class where I can hang student work, motivating quotes and goals, class murals, and more exciting things on the cement walls that will stay all year long (my VERY own hot glue gun, command strips, and special Marvelous tape that sticks for SO long!). You will also fund students with their own space to learn with flexible seating stools, a cool lightbox to have my class "leader" post a special quote each week, and organizational tools to make my lessons run smoothly. All of these basic items make for a more engaging, motivating learning environment, and will help children grow to love school.
