Home Is Where the Classroom Is

Help me give my students a five star virtual learning experience with basic tools and supplies like paper and ink needed for my "at home classroom."

My Students

Rooted in the values of community, identity, and investment, my students are pushed to develop the skills necessary to become successful college students, professionals, and change agents for their communities. Our school is situated in a primarily impoverished area in Washington, DC and it is the largest middle school in our school network. We also have the highest special education population.

Inquisitive, enthusiastic, and creative; my students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge.

They take challenges head on and are inspired to be the best they can be. When it comes to learning, they are fearless and just need the basic tools and resources to propel them forward in order prepare them to be productive competitors in the 21st century.

My Project

School is starting from home this year which poses many problems for teachers, students, and families. In order to make the quality of education the same at home as it would be in a normal school setting, I need access to basic materials and tools that I don't have readily available. These items will enhance my virtual teaching and provide the perfect backdrop during our Zoom lessons. In addition, in order to provide my sixth-grade readers with the best at-home learning experience, I need the basics such as paper, ink, and proper storage to convert my home into a classroom.

Students will benefit from these resources by helping them reach their individual reading growth goals by having a structured virtual classroom.

Our goal is to grow two reading levels on the SRI.
