Help me give my students learn important life lessons like self belief, the importance of friendships & the value of home & belonging all by reading a story where the characters face these adversities and overcome them.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are all English Language Learners. They have been in this country for less than 6 years. They are the "Covid" students that were home during their 5th and 6th grade years where we were all learning to adjust to the new normal. Upon talking with them, I learned that they haven't read a "real book" in school. They were not given the opportunity to fall in love with reading as most children do during those special school grades.
My goal for this project is to read with them a classic book that includes some basic life lessons such as self belief and the true power lies within oneself whilst riding on the popularity of its sister novel, Wicked.
My students are all special. They come from different parts of the world making my classroom more special with their diverse talents and abilities.
