Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The smiley face rug will allow my students to come together and have a time for classroom community. My students this year did not have a rug so they were forced to stay in their desks at all times. I want to use this rug as a time of fellowship with my students each morning. I want it to be their safe space with me.

The tall table with bar stool chairs will be used in my library.

It will give my students a place to get together and read. The furniture will be a privilege for my students to use. It will bring my reading cafe idea to life.

The rolling chair is for my teaching assistant. She works hard each day to support me and my students. She now does not have her own area in my classroom. She uses a student desk and chair. I want her to feel just as comfortable and at home in my classroom.
