Holiday Rewards for 5th Graders

My Project

The last two school years our classroom has had similar projects funded for our students, and they still talk about it today, so we decided to bring the project back for a THIRD year! Most projects that I submit on DonorsChoose contain academic resources, necessary school supplies, personal hygiene products, or classroom furniture, and students have been so excited and appreciative of these incredible resources that we have received from the Donors Choose community.

For this project, though, we want to focus on our PBIS incentives and have asked our students find a small item that they would hope to get as a holiday reward for their incredible behavior and hard work.

The majority or our students live in economic hardship, 78.7%, with 14.1% of students identifying as homeless or residing in emergency/transitional housing.

Our families work incredibly hard and we would love to be able to bring an extra smile and something special to our 5th grade students and families.

Students earn points for positive behavior based on our school's PBIS matrix. Some examples are: respecting others, respecting place, respecting self, having a growth mindset, persistence, helping others, teamwork, being a leader, and more! Our students take ownership over creating a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom, and we want to reward them with something they will be truly excited about and reinvigorate their appreciation for themselves and others!

All students are on track to meet their PBIS goals and earn their reward! We will wrap each reward with a tag that reads, "To: (name) From: People who love you", because we know that each and every one of you that donate and/or share, truly do care for and love these students.

Our students deserve this and so much more, and we thank you for your support. Happy holidays!
