Holiday Recess Fun: Games, Crafts, and Cheer for TK-5th Graders

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students love expressing their creativity while making a difference in their community. This holiday recess project will allow TK-5th graders to create handmade crafts and heartfelt cards to be shared with nursing homes, local shelters, and loved ones. The items requested—craft supplies like craft items, markers, ornaments, beads, holiday cards, and seasonal materials—will empower our students to spread joy and kindness during the holiday seasonThrough this project, students will create ornaments, decorative keepsakes, and personalized cards that bring smiles to those in need of cheer. These crafts teach students the value of giving back while fostering creativity, fine motor skills, and attention to detail. Writing messages in the cards will also strengthen their literacy skills, providing an authentic and meaningful way to practice communication and empathy.
Our goals for this project are to inspire a sense of community and compassion in our students while enhancing their social-emotional and academic development.
By engaging in these thoughtful activities, students will learn the importance of connecting with and supporting others, which fosters a greater sense of responsibility and empathy.
Our students are special because they approach life with incredible heart and resilience, despite challenges. Many come from low-income or rural backgrounds and have limited opportunities to give back or make a difference. This project will not only allow them to create something beautiful but also to contribute positively to their community during the holidays.
