This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

While the holiday season is meant to be a joyful time, for many it is a time of great financial challenge and worry. We are a Title I school and our school community is mostly drawn from a low-income urban area. Many of our students' parents are hard-working individuals who are struggling to make ends meet. As a culminating activity to our yearly social studies unit on holidays around the world, it is my wish to have a fun holiday winter celebration! I'd like to have a special arts and crafts party with winter treats for my students this year and provide the kiddos with a small class microwave oven to heat school lunches, as ours recently stopped working.

As part of our holiday party, I'd like to be able to give my students an opportunity to create holiday ornaments for their parents as well as supply them with holiday candy, treats, snacks, and gift bags for them to enjoy over the holiday season.

Regardless of their individual challenges/special individual needs, my students are eager to learn and have been working hard to meet their academic goals. This holiday season, I'd like to ensure that all my students feel the joy and spirit of the season!
