Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 5 and 6 years old students are a lively, tenderhearted group who always look forward to new adventures in kindergarten. Their little hearts and minds are so excited about learning. Enthusiasm, motivation, and just having fun is what you will find happening in my kindergarten class.
We recently experienced Hurricane Harvey's flooding in and around our city which affected our school and students.
I have students who have lost their homes, cars, and personal possessions. Many are now living with relatives, friends, or in hotels. These students' lives have changed drastically, but, yet, they come to school with smiles and hugs because school is their safe place.
My Project
My students are always up for a challenge! The science and math activities will certainly enhance that. The sink and float activity will be utilized in the science learning station to explore and share information and discoveries. The magnetic shapes will be used to create an animal that they will research. Each student will present and report information about the animal they created.
Hurricane Harvey presented us with many unexpected challenges, but we remain focused on our education.
The math games and manipulatives will provide number sense practice. The number houses will reinforce number sequence and help practice counting back from 10 to 1. The knock down the number game will allow my students to practice addition.
