Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from many different ethnic groups, social status and financial status. They come from all over our parish and not just from a certain area. We teach from different neighborhoods which to be in heart of major city. Our school is not privileged to get the same supplies as our counterparts in the district so, we have to improvise on how they will get the supplies needed to be successful. They have a willingness to learn and I try to make that happen, but the resources from the school is very limited.

Now, that we are experiencing a pandemic, one that we have not seen in our lifetime.

We are experiencing so many things as a school. We are an F school so, we don't get the furniture needed for our classrooms like the other schools in our district do. I would like for my students to be comfortable while they are learning. I think they deserve to sit in decent chairs.

My Project

The chairs that are being requested would allow my students to be comfortable in the 90 minutes that they are in class. The chairs we currently have are cracked, bent and broken and they tend to pinch them when they are seated for that long period of time. I want them to be able to sit comfortable enough to learn without worrying if they will have a bruise at the end of class. They will be able concentrate even when it is time to take standardize tests at the end of the school year.
