My Students

They say great things come in small packages and that is the case with my students! My students are tiny elementary band students who live, dream, eat and sleep band! They are very serious, excited and highly motivated when it comes to band class! We are the only elementary school in the district that has band! The majority of my students are 3rd-5th grade inner city students. Our program is not fully funded by the district so we rely on donations to keep our program going.

My Project

A beautiful full sized gong was donated to our program last year but since we do not have a gong stand, we have not been able to use it. My students are very eager to add this to our daily percussion exploration. We are doing a project and performance in multi-cultural music and we need to use our gong to "explore Asia." I have requested a gong stand and mallet so we can experience the richness and diversity of music from different cultures. We also need containers to hold our music folders so our worldly music does not get lost!
