"Sitting still is overrated. It makes sense for the opera or for meditating, but in most classrooms and child care centers, it's given far more honor than it deserves. Children need to move." ~Tom Hunter, NAEYC
I have amazing kids who love to move! These stools will help them to learn.
My students are amazing and wonderful kids from various cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic backgrounds.
They are very eager to learn and bring joy to my life every day! A lot of my students have a hard time with their activity level. They want to learn so much but sometimes they cannot focus.
These requested hokki stools will be used while students are sitting and working or learning from their desks. The stools will allow them to move or wobble around while also focusing on strengthening their core. Not only will it help them with moving, it could improve my student's posture. Another teacher in my school had a project funded with these stools. Her student's with focus and attention issues really benefited from the movement allowed by the hokki stools. I have students who are forced to sit still when we know learning requires movement to be engaging. I am excited to offer this simple intervention for my students.
The funding of this project will make a big difference in my class.
Students will be able to move while sitting in these stools, which will help to keep them actively engaged in their work. My ultimate goal would be to have a stool for each student in my class. Please help make this a reality!
