Hodgepodge Science

Help me give my students a mix of science experiences. These materials will benefit students in various grade levels K-5.

My Students

I am starting my 3nd year as a science specials teacher for grades K-5, which is about 660 students. It is also our third year to have a dedicated science program at my school. I collected a lot of materials the first and second years to help conduct various experiments and engineering challenges for students to complete.

Students love coming to science is all I hear from regular classroom teachers, so I want to continue to have them enjoy their time in class and learn something new every time they come.

Students walk by my classroom in the mornings and say they can't wait to see me in science that day, or the younger ones would ask if it was their day to come to science. They are so excited to learn, watch, and participate in the activities I plan for them each time they come to my class.

My Project

2nd and 4th graders will be able to see microorganisms using our simple microscopes. Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade will learn about electrical circuits and magnets while studying forces.

Each student these materials affect will be able to learn more about science through hands-on experiences with these materials.

They will be able to connect what we've read about and seen in videos through investigations with the materials purchased. Playing with science is way more fun that just reading about it or watching a video that helps to explain what you're learning.
