My Project

High school students face many challenges, especially when it comes to in-person learning. Ever since COVID hit our community, students have had a hard time focusing in and out of class. This is especially true in my 82 minute English classes. Students are expected to learn and practice a variety of skills that will be applied in all subjects (reading, writing, analysis, speaking, listening, grammar, etc.) and this can be a challenge for students to understand when they are more focused on the uncomfortable seating.

With so much content to cover it isn't fair to expect students to sit in hard, plastic chairs for an entire class period.

With the use of a variety of wobble stools, students will be more engaged in class, allowing them to subtly work out their fidgeting while keeping their minds active. Compared to a regular school desk that is rigid and uncomfortable (and often prompts students to slouch and fall asleep at their desk), these stools are active, helping students maintain a healthy posture and prompting them to stay awake and engaged in order to maintain their balance.

Students whose brains are actively engaged are more likely to get valuable information out of each class period. Plus, with a variety of stools and desks alike, students will have options to choose what seating works best for their learning.
