This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are ambitious and motivated to read. They love reading individually but with one another as well. Even though they are socially and economically challenged, they come to school each day ready to give their best in all they do.
Each morning they arrive ready to learn and excited to share all they know.
They also recognize the importance of an orderly and organized classroom. Having fun and unique spaces so that kids can feel comfortable while they are reading will gain enthusiasm and excitement for any activity we do throughout the day.
My Project
Giving students a wobble chair to keep my students focused and engaged in reading and everyday lessons.
Wobble chairs increase engagement during lessons and engaged students are successful learners.
A study by Beth Pfeiffer found that movement during learning increases attention in the school setting. Focusing on the instructions and completing assignments are essential skills students need to improve in reading and math. All learners need the ability to 'get their wiggles out, no matter their age. Wiggle chairs will give a variety of students with diverse learning styles the ability to focus and stay on task.
Also included are some classroom incentives/rewards for students to be motivated and productive because they create a feeling of pride and achievement. Being successful makes you happy. Every success story helps students become more self-confident. They are proud and also encouraged to achieve another successful result.
Testing folders give a sense of privacy and create a safe place for students to work on their tests while also providing a way for students to stay focused on their own materials and not be distracted by what another student might be working on. It helps teachers receive accurate data for future lesson planning.
Tpt is a wonderful resource that provides teachers access to fun engaging projects such as games, art, stories, and learning-based projects for working together in small groups or as a whole classroom. These products are already made and can give teachers the opportunity to do some fun activities at the touch of a button.
