Our classroom is a positive, productive place where all children can learn. "Perseverance is the hard work you do after getting tired of doing the hard work you already did." Finding creative ways to design strategies and solutions that work for different students is one of our goals.
Our students are a diverse group of learners, including typically developing students, English language learners, students who need academic support, students who are confident participants, as well as students who need encouragement to answer questions and partake in class discussions.
Our school is very supportive of helping each child to find their strengths and affinities, and provides resources to fulfill their needs.
My Project
With the hokki stools, my students who find it challenging to sit and focus for the duration of a lesson or activity will be able to do so, as the stools allow for some physical movement to stimulate their mental energy. The stools will be used at student desks, as well as at the rug, and other meeting places for learning.
My students who find it difficult to sit calmly during work time will now be able to do so with these hokki stools.
This will help them be able to focus on their work, and increase on-task behavior. Success breeds success-- students will feel more confident in their abilities, leading them to meet their goals and set new ones that are even higher.
