My Students

The students that I teach are creative, curious, and highly motivated learners. My second-grade class consists of general education, special education, and ESL learners who love to learn! They love to explore new experiences that satisfy their natural curiosity. Providing real-world, hands-on experiences allows my students to produce work that is meaningful for them. Our Title I school believes that our population of students learn in diverse ways. My inquisitive learners have very diverse needs and the methods and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. The students I currently teach have not been in the school building for over a year. This is their first full year of in-person learning and my goal is to make their in-school learning experience amazing.

My Project

Returning to a full year of in-person learning has been very challenging for some students. My class hasn't had a full "normal" school year yet! Every classroom needs a place for students to go where they feel safe, can calm down, or solve problems. This year, working in our classroom has stirred up fear and anxiety in some students and they have not found a safe and effective way of releasing those feelings. It is crucial for each student's social-emotional needs to be met so that the focus on learning can continue.

Flexible seating opportunities allow for students to feel comfortable in the classroom while focusing on their work.

With a large class size, sometimes it is difficult for students to see the board and this hinders their learning experience. Some students also have a hard time facing forward, which is why the bike pedals can help these students release energy and focus on their task. The materials I am requesting will help solve these issues.
