Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The sensory supplies will help my students stay focused during lessons. The squishy toys, textured strips, and sensory mats are all quiet materials that students can use if they are anxious or upset. They will provide them with a way to calm their bodies and still be a part of our class. The colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, and zipper pouches will give students a way to organize their supplies for use at school or for homework.

Students struggle to stay focused and organized when dealing with emotional needs and issues they might be dealing with when they come to school.

Many of my students come to school and have already experienced some kind of trauma in their young lives. They don't know how to deal with their emotions. The sensory materials will give them a way to help calm their bodies and emotions. I also want to teach them organizational skills to help them be successful in school.
