My Project
This virtual learning course that I am requesting will show me how to introduce my Kindergarten through 2nd-grade educators to the Hochman Method, an explicit set of sequenced strategies for teaching expository writing that can be integrated into any content area. I will be able to take it over 2 days this summer in the comfort of my home. The Writing Revolution (TWR) faculty will present age-appropriate examples and techniques for scaffolding and differentiation to me in this virtual training, and I will, in turn, bring it back to my school to instruct our teaching staff on how to implement it during our preservice. Upon completion of our pre-service work teachers will share what I have taught them with their K-2 students during their designated writing time.
I will be able to go into classrooms observe and support teachers to ensure instruction is happening to its fullest and students are gaining the necessary skills to be successful.
