My students need a compact printer for various class assignments, but also for me to be able to print them copies of their college and/or job recommendation letters.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are extremely diverse and many are from low-income families. We have over 70 different languages spoken at home in our district! Many of my students are the first in their families to graduate from high school or to go on to a secondary education. My school is a very large community, with almost 3,000 students.
My students have a variety of plans for their futures after graduation including attending college, entering the workforce or joining the military.
My Project
Many of my students ask me to write them college and/or job recommendation letters. Often it is difficult to access a printer and I do not have one in my classroom. I like to be able to share letters with them and allow them to make any edits. There are also many times when it would be helpful to have access to a printer in the classroom, whether it is to print an extra copy of a worksheet or to allow them to easily print an essay.
I teach 11th grade and many of my students are preparing for college applications, searching for a part-time job or looking for volunteer work in the community, all of which often require recommendation letters from a teacher, which I am happy to provide.
