My Students

Our school is a rural, Title I school located in southeastern Oklahoma. Approximately 80% of our students are Native American. Over 80% of our students participate in the free or reduced-price lunch program.

My classes are comprised of 8th, 9th, and 10th grade history students.

I challenge my students to become successful readers. Students are challenged to succeed in reading each and every day.

My students are eager, enthusiastic learners who thirst for knowledge. My students are inquisitive and take every opportunity to empower themselves in their quest for new learning opportunities.

My Project

This project will allow my students to have access to historical fiction titles within the classroom and at home. These books will engage my students by introducing them to different historical concepts and perspectives. These books will increase their reading fluency and comprehension and assist my students who are struggling readers by providing books which they are able to read and books which will pique their interests.

History in the Making will impact and engage students at various grade levels.

This project will make a tremendous difference in the lives of my students through its focus on literacy.
