My Project

Having 20 student subscriptions to Scholastic Upfront (from the New York Times) and Scholastic Choices Magazines in our history classroom will help spark our students' interest in current events in the world around them and empower them to make positive real world decisions!

Upfront Magazine empowers our students to think critically about today's most important news stories - Every article is a curriculum connected teaching package - Scholastic Choices Magazine helps students develop and apply must-have skills such as resiliency, stress management, and empathy to navigate our world on and offline - These magazines support core Social Studies and ELA standards at both the state and national levels with articles that get students thinking about today's news and skills relevant to them - Upfront and Choices also contain integrated print and online resources (Lesson Plans, Skills Sheets, Quizzes, and Standard Alignments along with comprehensive digital resources) - These subscriptions offer videos, articles to read, and in class differentiation with instruction at different reading levels - they will engage our students with high-interest articles that they look forward to and actually want to read - Upfront and Choices will help our students become conversant in issues of national and international importance - Upfront and Choices Magazines will help our students become knowledgeable and informed!

We have so had much success with Upfront Magazine (since 2018) that we would like to use this resource again and this time add Choices Magazine for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
