My Students

I truly believe learning to love to read can make a huge difference in the future of our children.

My students are a diverse group: some are speaking English as a second language, some have learning disabilities, and others are achieving beyond grade level expectations. More than 94% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Even with the obstacles they face, they are a motivated group of kids with hearts of gold.

My Project

My students have a thirst for learning about history but they tend to get bored as we read texts in our Social Studies Unit. Please help make history come alive for my students.

We read a read aloud about Septemeber 11 and they asked if they could do more research and learn more on their own.

This self- motivated learning is what I strive for on a regular basis.

By having a class set of non-fiction "Who Was" and "What Was" books my kids can have the opportunity to enjoy learning about historical figures and history. History will truly come alive for them!
