Mr. Warshawer from Brooklyn NY is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a LCD projector to view pictures, videos, and online resources related to World and U.S. history.

The black-white "achievement gap" is not an immutable fact of our society. At Achievement First Endeavor Middle School, our scholars prove that this so-called gap can be closed by simply working harder, longer and smarter. Our scholars come from an under-served community.
Put simply, it is a basic fact of modern life that our children are steeped in technology. As a history teacher, I continually face the challenge of engaging 21st century children in the beautiful complexities of World and U.S. history. While textbooks and intentionally-designed lesson-plans go far, they are inadequate in addressing the diverse, interactive modalities to which our children are accustomed. Showing pictures or drawings of the past on a transparency is simply not good enough anymore for our children.
An LCD projector for our school's history program would engage my scholars by giving them the sights (and sounds) of history. Interactive powerpoint presentations with video clips, pictures and other online resources would provide ACCESS to the past through technology that our scholars are used to using in the present.
The study of history is essential to the vitality of our future. Our children are simply not getting the instruction they deserve. Your help in providing an LCD projector will literally make history come alive for my scholars.
