This quote holds true in my classroom because in my classroom, history is used to ignite our spirits and our minds.
My students are a group of children who come from an area of many low socioeconomic families.
These students enjoy learning about mistakes and successes of our past. This is a group of students who are eager to learn and really love being in school. So far this year, we have interacted with many historical sources and concepts, and we have enjoyed every minute of it! Our school is a small, rural school that lacks many resources. We are a part of a community that is very supportive of what we do for children at our school. Everybody has a shared vision and at the center of that vision, is each individual student.
My Project
In our classroom, we engage in learning about historical events by becoming historians. We make history notebooks, analyze primary and secondary sources, research topics, and debate perspectives.
The resources that I am requesting are wide-ruled notebooks that will allow my students to continue to keep historical records at their fingertips. We will use the notebooks to keep our records, help us to record research, and analyze sources for more information. The notebooks will allow my students to continue to keep all of the historical information in an organized manner that will be easily accessible to them.
Donating to this project would really help my students to grow as young historians.
The activities done with these materials will require students to critically analyze historical content. This will allow my students to become more advanced, critical thinkers and help to prepare them to be successful in the society they are growing up in.
