Historical Non-fiction Books Help Bring Reading To Life!
My students need a collection of 25 fabulous historical non-fiction books to teach about influential people including Amelia Earhart, Harriet Tubman, Dr. Seuss, and more! They truly love the few books I own from this series.
This is my sixth year teaching, and third year teaching second grade! I teach 26 amazing students! My students have rich, diverse backgrounds--several have families who are from different countries including Japan, Tonga, Ukraine, Russia, Iraq, and Mexico. We live in a very supportive community. My students are working hard this year to learn about having a growth mindset and learning from our mistakes. They are kind, ambitious, and excited about learning new things. We are thankful for the opportunities Donors Choose provides!
My Project
My students need a collection of 25 fabulous historical non-fiction books to teach about influential people including Who Was Amelia Earhart, Harriet Tubman, Dr. Seuss, and more! They truly love the few books I own from this series. My second graders love reading about real life people who have influenced our world. I selected several books from the New York Time's Best Selling Series "Who Was," as I've noticed a great curiosity of the three books from this series I own in our classroom. I requested two sets of five so that I could incorporate the books into my small group guided reading. In addition, we will build on our comprehension by writing about our reading from these books. My students would love the opportunity to use these books on a more regular basis, if provided more to choose from. Thank you in advance for any donation!
