My Students

I have a wonderful group of students who love to read and write. The children get very excited when they work on classroom projects and research information. They have a love for learning! They need materials that are available for them to access within our classroom.

The children have little resources because of economic status of their families.

We are a Title 1 school and I have a very diverse classroom. The children struggle with completing homework because they don’t have supplies at home. I have sent a pen home with a student so the parent could sign paperwork.

I have students who are ESL and struggling with learning English as a second language. I have students who are 6 levels below in reading. The children struggle with fluency and comprehension.

My Project

The chapter books would give my students a literacy area within our classroom to help them with guided reading. I would create a leveled book literacy area in the classroom where students can choose from a variety of books.

The children would have easy access to the books needed to complete projects and essays.

The bean bags would give comfortable seating in our literacy area.

The Time for Readers set, would give my ESL students opportunity to engage in English as their second language. The leveled books would give every student in the class an opportunity to grow their reading levels.
