Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students LOVE to draw, color, and work with their hands. It's not uncommon for me to receive work filled with creative sketches! The supplies I'm requesting will be used to fuel student engagement as we read different texts. While several of my students find joy in the arts, they struggle to read and analyze texts. When the students are able to express themselves in a creative way, they are more likely to participate and learn the content.

These art supplies will not only promote learning and Kagan strategies, they will also provide a fun environment for students to interact and engage with the texts.

All of the supplies will be available to students to use whether they need a highlighter to annotate, a sharpie to write bold letters on a poster, or colored pencils to create an eye-catching book cover to match with their narrative paper. The post-its will be incredibly helpful as graphic organizers and give students the opportunity to work in groups and conduct gallery walks or presentations. These supplies will support me to establish a fun classroom while also encouraging students to interact with each other and the texts we read!
