Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a third grade public school teacher in a low income/high need community, I try to expose my third grade students to all facets of learning in order to help them meet their potential and enjoy the learning experience.
I have a group of ambitious and eager public school students who love to read, write, and solve math problems.
They are learning to apply what they learned in order to comprehend and delve deeply into various fiction stories and non-fiction texts during reading workshop and guided reading. They are also learning how to apply various math concepts into solving higher order problems during math workshop.
My Project
I am requesting various highlighters and post-it notes for my students to use during writing and reading workshop. My students are learning how to edit and revise their writing pieces. One of the best visual tools they can use is highlighters and post-it notes. They can color code the types of revisions they need to use with different highlighters. They can use post-it notes in their notebooks to identify various writing pieces, parts of a report, and even to help them with their vocabulary. These visual aids can help visual learners correct their punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.
With you help, you will make it possible for my students to improve their writing and word study skills by enabling them to reinforce writing lessons learned in class through these visual tools.
