I am an instructor of Algebra 1 at a Title 1 urban high school where over 80% of my students receive free my school. Most of these students are underrepresented and does not have the highest self confidence. As their greatest advocate, I have to motivate them to be everything I believe they can in any learning environment we are placed in.
This motivation sometimes include me providing the essential tools they need to perform.
My students will do everything in their power to be successful and I want to help as best I can.
My Project
This school year, we will return to full face-to-face learning. As such, I will try as best as possible to give my students a normal learning environment. Students will work in whole groups, in peer-learning groups, as well as in Differentiated Learning (DL) groups.
Some students will return to physical learning environment lacking the technology used in a DL Classroom.
In a DL environment , the students alternate between using the computer for practice, as well as practicing using paper-pencil. This computer practice will prepare students for taking the Algebra 1 End-of-Course ( EOC ) via the computer at the end of the school year. I am being proactive in requesting these laptops so none of my students will be at a disadvantage when it really matters the most.
Please help make this possible so my students can practice throughout the year, which will give them a better chance at success when they take the EOC in May 2022.
