High School Theatrical Design

Help me give my students the ability to create and submit professional quality UIL Theatrical Design work by providing them with a canon camera, canon printer and professional photography lighting.

My Students

It requires a unique combination of intelligence and bravery to develop as a designer. Theatrical design students interpret a literary work and develop their own unique vision for set, costume, hair/makeup and marketing for the theatre. They take inspiration form a multitude of places such as art, nature, industry, emotions, memories, etc. to create a visual world on stage.

What I love about my students is their ability to take creative risks.

These days to create something new and unique we do not use a one size fits all formulaic process. They must develop their own individual process.

My kids tackle research and go beyond their comfort zones. They collaborate with one another openly and receptively, learning to say "yes and" to elevate an idea into an unexpected, cohesive, original work.

My Project

Theatrical Design is a class and Texas UIL Contests. Students create designs for the stage in the categories of Set, Costume, Hair/Makeup and Marketing. The materials that we are asking for will give my students hands-on skills in creating their design projects. For example, they will be able to use the photography equipment to develop ideas, create samples, take professional photos of makeup designs, and create photos for the marketing. Also, they will use the photography equipment to assemble excellent photos for the first round contest submissions that must be photographed then sent digitally to the contest manager.

Having the proper tools will give my students the opportunity to learn valuable marketable skills and enable them to create designs that are only limited by their imaginations.

UIL Academic contests give students a chance to learn skills, compete for scholarships, network with other students in the fields they have a passion and interest.
