My Project

The High School Horticulture course offers students a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of gardening, emphasizing both practical skills and academic knowledge. Through hands-on activities and classroom instruction, students will explore various aspects of plant biology, soil science, garden design, and sustainable gardening practices. Topics covered include plant propagation, soil preparation and fertility, pest and disease management, irrigation techniques, and the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and ornamental plants. Additionally, students will learn about the environmental and health benefits of gardening, as well as its role in promoting food security and community resilience. Through engaging projects and experiential learning opportunities, students will develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world and gain valuable skills that can be applied both inside and outside the garden. This course encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity while fostering an understanding of the interconnectedness between humans and the environment.

What makes these teens so special is in spite of great hardship and lack of home support, they keep showing up, unwilling to wave the white flag... They are brilliantly resilient and are excited for the first time about creating and growing.

They are being more imaginative and understanding the value of ownership and nourishment. It warms my heart just thinking about it.

Thank you in advance for helping support something so worthwhile that these kids are actually excited about... something they will always remember and bless them throughout their life. They will be far more likely to value nature and grow their own gardens and food and pass it on to their own kids one day.
