My Students

My students are the sweetest, kindest 8th graders ever. They're super special because they come from all over the world from China to Uzbekistan to Yemen to Guatemala, and even Somalia. They have all found new homes and settled in Brooklyn, NY. When I walk into my classroom each morning and see so many countries of the world represented and I watch as they strive to learn English, become friends, and learn about each other's cultures, it makes my heart explode with hope for the future of humanity and reminds me that this unity could only take place in The United States of America.

My Project

My students are graduating 8th grade in a few months and are heading off to high school. Many of them have worked extremely hard this year and struggled with the limitations of remote and hybrid learning in small apartments, with limited internet access. In spite of the seemingly insurmountable obstacles, many have gone above and beyond, proving they can thrive no matter what. I'd like to reward them and give them a gift to buy school supplies of their choice for the next phase of their educational career - high school!
