My Students

The diverse community of students that attend my school are wonderfully creative and resilient. They are dynamic and boisterous on the surface. But, given the opportunity to take a closer look, you will discover an unusual depth for kids this age. The majority of our students come from low income households and have overcome challenges that many adults would find difficult to navigate. As an art teacher, I have the privilege of getting to know some of these amazing individuals.

My Project

This spring students from our school would like to take a field trip to the Corning Museum of glass. While our school's art department has a diverse visual arts curriculum, glass blowing is an experience that we are unable to provide for our students.

In addition to touring the museum and learning about the art of glass making, each student will have the opportunity to participate in a glass blowing activity.

The Corning Museum of Glass trip will provide students with an amazing opportunity for students to not only learn about glass making, they will also be able to experience glass blowing and create a glass artwork of their own. This is an incredible opportunity for the students, and with your help we can provide the transportation for this trip.
