High School Esports - Creating Learning Opportunities with Increased Accessibility

Help me give my students the equipment necessary to compete at the high school esports level. Xbox Consoles, Nintendo Switch Consoles, equipment, and games will help increase equity for our small team and promote stronger community in school.

My Project

Our high school esports team is seeking funding to purchase gaming consoles and equipment to provide an equitable, engaging experience for all students. Currently, our team relies on students bringing in their own equipment, limiting accessibility and creating barriers for many. By acquiring Xbox and Nintendo consoles, we aim to foster inclusivity, expand participation opportunities, and introduce students to skills related to game design, development, and programming.

The Xbox and Nintendo consoles and equipment we have requested will directly enhance equity and access for students within our school and allow us to grow our team to reach even more students.

Xbox consoles will enable us to offer popular games such as NBA 2K25, NFL Madden, Fortnite, and Rocket League. Nintendo Switch systems will open the door to Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, and additional multiplayer titles. These games will allow us to cater to a wide range of interests while introducing students to key concepts behind the games they love. For example, students will explore the mechanics of competitive balance, teamwork design, and game physics as part of their preparation for matches.

Beyond competition, our esports program provides a gateway to understanding game design, development, and programming. Students will engage in team discussions to analyze gameplay mechanics and strategize based on game design principles.These activities offer a hands-on introduction to programming logic, user interface design, and problem-solving in digital environments, paving the way for future learning in STEM fields.

Esports is more than just gaming—it’s a safe space for underrepresented and often shy students to build relationships, foster community, and develop 21st-century skills. Your support will help create a dynamic program that bridges gaps, inspires teamwork, and introduces students to game-related industries. Together, we can ensure every student has the chance to participate, compete, and grow in this innovative field.
