Our students bring a diversity of cultures, languages and perspectives which makes our school an exciting and fun place to learn. We have an awesome opportunity to provide students with a chance to engage, challenge and "wow" them with the magic of the language of coding and Computer Science! Learning to code isn't always easy and we strive to give them the opportunity, motivation and support to learn at their own pace and in their own ways. The Tech Lab is a place they get some quality computer science learning time and support to learn important 21st Century skills. I have seen amazing coding creations in the lab this year from students! As the 8th graders move to high school, we want to finish the year off with teaching them to code games and animation in Javascript.
My Project
Not all students are able to provide their own headphones in the computer lab. It helps for all students to have access to the same model headphone. During the course of seeing 400+ students a semester, the headphones break.
The headphones will be used so that students can access educational videos through code.org's Computer Science Discoveries curriculum.
In addition the students will be able to move through the curriculum at their own pace.
This semester, we are learning Javascript coding and students will be moving through this at varying speeds. Having headphones at each computer station will help us support differentiation in learning to code.
