Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are bilingual, special education learners with all different levels of language proficiency. Each one of them has their own specific learning needs in order to be successful. We are a dual language elementary school with more than three-fourths of our student population consisting of low income families.
Help me give my students high interest books at their reading level.
As a special education teacher supporting students with all different reading abilities, I want them to have access to all the tools we can provide. Thank you!
My Project
Helping a student to become a reader who loves to read can change a child’s life! My students are 3rd and 4th grade students who are still learning foundational reading skills. Often we do not have access to a variety of interesting and engaging for older students who are learning basic reading concepts. These books will be used in small groups to teach my students how to decode words and learn important comprehension skills. Giving my students these books will give them access to a world of books at their level!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
