My Project

My middle school students are wonderful! They come to school each and every day ready and eager to learn, even though reading is very difficult for them. My students struggle to read, and unfortunately, the books that are at their reading level are geared towards 1st and 2nd graders. The books they are able to read are targeted towards a much younger demographic and the students in my classroom struggle wanting to read, knowing that they can only read children's books. These high interest but low ability books will help my students to find a passion for reading. These books will spark their middle school interest, but are written at a level they can read proficiently. They won't be seen in the hall carrying around a picture book, but instead a book that mirrors the books of their peers and seems interesting to read.
