My Students

Our students are hardworking, kind, and love learning about the world around them. After being out of the school building for some or all of 2nd & 3rd grade, they are readjusting to life back in the classroom. They spent months learning on a computer screen and have not had many opportunities to put their hands on texts, complete work using a paper and a pencil, or interact with their classmates face to face.

My Project

After an extended period of time learning online, students need to be provided with non-digital, high-interest reading opportunities. They need to be able to physically hold and interact with a text again. They need to be able to annotate the text, practice metacognitive skills as they read, and circle new words as they read.

Storyworks magazines puts texts in students' hands and makes them WANT to read!

The topics are highly engaging and every magazine includes a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts. The teacher materials that accompany the magazines are differentiated to meet the needs of all students in the classroom. These will help create lifelong readers.
