Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Thank you for helping me build a classroom library. I teach English Language Arts and English Language Development to 9-12 graders at a Title 9 school. More than 80% of our students are on free or reduced-priced lunch. These students have very little access to books and my hope as a teacher is that I am able to influence these wonderful people in the most positive way. The school is very diverse and many of my students are migrants and refugees.

Help me help my students.

I teach 12th-grade English and hope to build a library of the world's great books. My plan for the library is to introduce my students to books they otherwise would not have an interest in or opportunity to engage with. I read with a deep unquenchable passion and hope to inspire my students to do the same. I give book talks of the books and set up a system for lending the books. I also use the books for specific assignments at different times throughout the year.
