Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My second grade students with autism are also struggling readers, as a result, they shy away from picking up a book and attempting to read them. This impacts their progress in reading tremendously since they hardly want to read in school or at home, however when the books are of their favorite characters, such as DogMan and Pete the Cat they become enthused and excited to just open the book and explore all the text features, especially the pictures. This led them to ask more questions about the book. They begin to want to know how to read this word or that word. As a result, more kids are starting to want to become better readers.
