This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a new elementary teacher, I’m working to build a classroom library that can engage all of my students, no matter their reading level or interests. Currently, our library is small, and I’m looking to add popular book series like The Bad Guys and Junie B. Jones. These sets are perfect for young readers because they are entertaining and approachable, while also helping students develop important literacy skills.
Book series like these encourage a love of reading by giving students characters and stories they can connect with across multiple books.
The Bad Guys offers a fun, action-packed series that is ideal for reluctant readers or those transitioning to chapter books. Junie B. Jones provides relatable, humorous stories that help young readers connect with the joys and challenges of school life. All of these series will provide an opportunity for students to engage in interesting stories in different genres.
These books will foster a sense of community in our classroom as students can share, discuss, and recommend stories to one another. Your support in helping me add these series to our classroom library will make a lasting difference in how my students experience reading and grow as learners.
