My Students

My students are a really great group of kids. We have a small school, so they are part of a very close-knit community. The students are encouraged to get involved in many activities. They participate in community volunteering, academic clubs, and athletics. Our students also go on a lot of field trips to experience real world learning. I am honored to be teaching in this nurturing and academically challenging school. I hope that you will see the value in helping me give these kids the best learning experience that I can.

My Project

We know that students' success in the classroom and their lives is based on much more than reading and arithmetic skills. Kids need to be taught how to make good choices on a day- to-day basis, so they can benefit from the outcomes of making wise choices. These skills can be taught! Students don't have to fall into the traps of unhealthy choices, they can be shown how to avoid pitfalls and how to build healthy habits and use sound logic. Empowering students with wisdom will do so much to encourage and build them up, so they can be confident students and people.

Scholastic Magazine has put together a monthly magazine with high-interest articles that teach teens how to make wise choices by empowering them with accurate information.

I have used this in the past, and students enjoy it and learn from it! it is also a great reinforcement of effective informational reading strategies that we need them to know.
