High Impact Literacy Tools for High Risk Students

My Students

It is my absolute privilege to spend the day with eager, energetic and loving Kindergarten and first grade students. The students I teach score in the bottom 25% for their grade level and are considered at risk or severely behind their peers. My purpose as their support teacher is to provide multi sensory, engaging interventions to help them close the achievement gap with their peers. Our school is mostly comprised of low income and single parent families. It's my responsibility to ensure our highest need learners have every chance to achieve success. When they are in my small groups I help them understand they hold the power to reach their full potential. Research supports early intervention offers the highest yield for at risk learners making my job high stakes. I am seeking your help to provide literacy materials to make these early literacy interventions possible.

My Project

With the Pioneer Valley products including the word study kit I would have all of the tools to put multi-sensory learning into the hands of own lowest achieving primary students. I am an intervention teacher specializing in grades K and 1, where the fundamentals of reading development take place. It is essential that reading becomes accessible to every student as soon as possible. My objective is to target our highest need students and use research based strategies to improve their performance in reading.

With the proper tools I will be able to change the trajectory of my students academic futures.

These students will have the early interventions and attention needed to foster a life long positive relationship with literacy. Help me change the future for these most vulnerable learners in the period of their development that is the most crucial!
