Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am blessed with 17 sweet and energetic children.
Although I try to provide a safe, happy and loving learning environment for my children, I know it's difficult for some to forget their problems at home.
I teach at a Title 1 school which consist of many children living well below poverty level. Many of my children are being raised by single parents, grandparents, or foster parents. They learn to live without the luxuries that most of us take for granted. Some have experienced things that most adults can not even imagine. However, my students are always willing to help and are big hearted. I encourage them to do their best at all times and to NEVER give up. These children did not ask to be given the hardships that they have and are trying to make the best of it.
My Project
My first graders are very energetic and eager to learn new things. The requested materials will allow my children to get a better understanding of life-long math skills with the use of hands-on manipulatives and visual aides.
Young children need to be given the opportunity to explore and "play" in order to comprehend the skills being taught.
All of these materials will be stored in the storage carts and used in whole group, small group and learning stations throughout the year. I want to provide a fun learning environment that my children will remember for a life time and give them the opportunity to become successful independent learners.
