Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The school I teach at has a large population of immigrant students. With such a diverse group of children, part of my job as a teacher is to help acclimate them to the country, language, and learning environment. We hold small group lessons daily to help introduce new language, grammar, and practice our conversational skills.

After working with a "small" group of 9 students, I've figured out some materials that would help make learning a new language more comfortable and successful.

We have to meet on the rug because our group is so large. Having lap desks would allow students to read and write easier during group time. Magnetic letter tracing, sentence builders, and glue sticks for cut and paste activities are all supplies that would benefit the English language learner students. The stools would be perfect for our word work station where students practice letters and sounds!
