This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many of the students in my teaching community come to school with a smile and an eager learning attitude, they have challenges that they have to overcome before coming to school.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, in Atlanta, I know that my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
These young scholars want to learn and make good choices. Sometimes peer pressure may sneak in and cause them not to make the best choices.
My Project
Umbrellas were designed to help protect us during inclement weather. I am requesting umbrellas for my scholars. I want the scholars at my school to have an umbrella to use. During inclement weather, the attendance drops. Many of the scholars that attend my school walk to school. I want to help get rid of any excuse or hindrance for my scholars. I want the scholars at my school to be successful. Staying dry during inclement weather is one way. Having an umbrella will encourage the scholars to take a risk be brave and walk to school or wait for the bus and stay dry.
